Ingredients:
- 1 large loaf of long, soft Italian bread
- 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces sliced provolone cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions:
- Preheat a large skillet over high heat. Season the ribeye steak with salt and pepper.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet and let heat up for 1 minute. Add the steak to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and remove some of the soft interior to make room for the filling.
- Spread the unsalted butter on the inside of each half of the bread.
- Arrange the cooked steak over the bottom half of the bread, followed by the cooked onion and bell pepper mixture.
- Place the provolone cheese over the top of the filling, and top with the other half of the bread.
- Wrap the sandwich in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
- Remove from the oven, unwrap from the foil, and slice the sandwich into desired portions. Serve hot and enjoy!
